Why Journaling?

Understanding why we decided to pursue this is key to understanding our mission.

Mental health is one of the biggest crises facing our world today.

These are dire statistics — and overwhelmingly, we’re seeing that people don’t have the tools to deal with it themselves.

And most importantly, 84% of people said their dislike of talking about their feelings, emotions, or thoughts could stop them from seeking professional help.

Dislike of talking about feelings especially is exactly what journaling is designed to help with. Journaling can help people get more comfortable with their thoughts and feelings, and help them better understand what they’re going through.

However, it’s not an easy habit to build — and our competitors sure don’t make it easy. Many of these other products are designed to generate profit, and in their search to milk money out of users, abandon their goals of actually helping people as best as they can. As a nonprofit, we avoid these pitfalls.

Additionally, non-profits just aren’t currently in this space of non-acute help. The market is dominated by for-profits, and almost all other non-profits are focused on acute and medical care. That’s where we come in.
